OPI's Skyfall and Conquering James Bond

For his birthday, my boyfriend received from yours truly, something that his little movie-buff heart desired: the 50 Year James Bond Box Set. I jumped on the chance of getting him something he actually expressed (out loud!) that he wanted since he is generally quite difficult to buy for. It didn't occur to me that this meant I'd be watching every single Bond movie with him over the next few months. That's right, I'm now James Bond literate. Well almost  - next one on our list is GoldenEye. So far, my favorite movie is either The Spy Who Loved Me or The Living Daylights. The worst was definitely You Only Live Twice and I didn't particularly like Diamonds are Forever, specifically because the Bond girl suuuuuucked. I think they make or break a Bond movie most of the time. My favorite Bond so far is definitely Timothy Dalton, but I'm pretty sure Daniel Craig wins overall, at everything.

After a lengthy intro (because I can't help myself and I'm now a little James Bond fanatic) I shall now get to the point. OPI has recently released a collection called James Bond/Skyfall and today, I have for you... Skyfall! It gets confusing when you name your polishes the same thing as the collection. But yeah, this one is called Skyfall.

I actually quite like this polish. Skyfall is a deep, almost brown in some light, red. I thought I had something similar in my collection by OPI called Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ, but it is much more plum toned. The formula was good (my application questionable) and it lasted well on my nails with no chips for about 4 days. I've also worn the Golden Eye polish from this collection and it was awesome. I didn't take any pictures because my nails were in horrid condition, oops.

Have you watched any James Bond movies you've liked? Who's your favorite Bond?

  1. This colour reminds me of the 90s, but in the best way! Will definitely have to look into this.

  2. I can't stand the older Bonds. I'm from the Pierce Brosnan era and think he was quite suave, though not terribly convincing during action sequences. Golden Eye is kind of awesome though (the movie, not the polish). Famke Jansen is batshit crazy and Sean Bean is Sean Bean as usual, which means more awesome.

I think your BF should gift you with the rest of the OPI Bond collection as thanks for your continued attendance to these movie viewings, lol.

    1. It's so funny you say that about Pierce Brosnan - every action scene he's in totally looks forced - action shouldn't be hard for James Bond! And yeah, omg, I was kind of traumatized by Famke. And Sean Bean is like my hero. I love him.

HAHAHAHA my boy SHOULD get me the complete collection (he got a kick out of this one and said he totally would!). But really, I kind of only want Living Daylights now because I loved the movie.

  3. The color is nice, it varies so much in swatches but I like very much how it looks in yours. And great nail shape.
I like Sean Connery the most of all Bonds but that's about it

    1. Yeah I agree. Some swatches make it look brown! And really, it's quite brown in real life.

Sean Connery is the most suave one I think. And sexist lol.

  4. Lol at Liz's comment. I read Casino Royale and was kind of appalled at how coarse Bond's character really is; I think Daniel Craig does a good job at putting that back into the formula, and he may be my favorite, though I haven't seen too many of the older ones.

    1. Yeah, I think that all things considered, Daniel Craig is my favorite too. I think it's the power walk he has that does it. So awesome. I hear the books are great! The boy wants to read them!

  5. What a beautiful nail colour! I almost always wear red polish over other colours, and at times its hard to find a real variety of shades; I like that this one has the touch of brown that really makes it different. Enjoy the rest of the James Bond movies ;)

    1. Thanks Cee! I do think it's quite different - I love how vampy the touch of brown makes it!

  6. Ooh, nice surprise! I didn't expect that this color would actually feel like Skyfall. But I can imagine a Bond girl rocking it. Lovely review!

  7. I've seen a handful of the newer Bond movies (from Pierce Brosnan's entrance to one of Daniel Craig's), but just for something to see, no allegiance to any of the Bonds or the movies themselves - though I'm easily convinced to do something, so I'm downloading some now! LOL

This is a neat shade, though it's kinda middle-of-the-road for me in terms of intensity, which I generally steer clear of. Something's got to be bright, bold, very dark or very light for me to go for it - otherwise it looks like crap on me!

  8. Lovely colour! Really like the touch of brown in it, too. Not really a big fan of the Bond movies, Daniel Craig is probably my favourite Bond though. Enjoy the rest of the films :)
