Laura Mercier Metallic Eye Cream in Gold - Swatch & Review

I originally wasn't going to write about this product because I was under the impression the Laura Mercier Metallic Eye Creams were not in production anymore. While they don't seem to be selling them on Sephora, they are available on the Laura Mercier and Nordstroms website. So yay! I don't feel bad writing about it!

I first heard of these in a video from Lucy Garrick on Youtube where she recreated a Keira Knightly look with the Laura Mercier Metallic Eye Cream in Burnished Copper. At the time the Ebay seller I was eying (I ain't like customs/shipping prices of Nordstroms/Laura Mercier) only had the shade Gold, so I went for that one. I've since shamelessly purchased more shades.

The color reminds me very much of Woodwinked from MAC but Gold is a touch less yellow. It applies like a dream. I love that it doesn't dry too fast which gives me a chance to work with the product. I use it over a primer (I always use primer, no matter what) and it stays on all day, without creasing whatsoever. I also like layering it with powder shadows on top to give it more dimension, not that it really needs it.You only need a tiny little of this product in order to get an opaque finish. While some paint pots (like MAC or Maybelline) never quite give me an even finish, this is a breeze to use. I doesn't take much to make this product "work" so to speak.

This little tube retails for $22 USD and I think that it is well worth it. If you take a look at these lovely swatches from Karla Sugar I'm sure you now understand why I need/want them all.

  1. This looks so beautiful! It actually reminds me of Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze.

    1. Yeah I could see this being similar! I don't have it to compare though.

Thanks for the comment Christine! :)

  2. I really need to cull my cream shadow collection but ermagerdddd this is so pretty. I also need to try bad to the bronze ^. It doesn't help that I only like neutral cream shadows.

    1. I hear Bad to the Bronze is awesome. I just know I have too many bronzes in my collection already! It's definitely a good and cheap option to curb the lemmings!

  3. I had one of these in Mercury, which is a pale metallic lilac. Unfortunately, it looked horrid on me and I couldn't wear it at all! This one seems much more wearable. I thought they were discontinued too, kinda weird...

    1. Right?! I don't know why I thought they were discontinued as well... so strange!

  4. That colour is gorgeous! I tend not to use cream eyeshadow because of the creasing factor - its nice to know there's one out there that stays put!

  5. I love eye creams especially for traveling. I definitely need to check these out next time I'm at Nordstrom. Have you tried Becca's eye tints? They seem to get rave reviews as well but I've never tried them.

    1. oooh, I really want to try the Becca eye tints! Haven't given them a go yet, but they're definitely on my beauty radar! I really want the Pewter shade.

I agree that these are great for traveling - they're teeny tiny!

  6. Oh this shade is so pretty! I love cream shadows, I find them really easy to work with and they usually apply smoothly - I hate playing around with brushes :S

    1. This definitely applies better with fingers too - then blend with a brush if needed!

  8. That does look like a very pretty shade! I've had my eye on these for quite a while too, but never get around to trying them for some reason. I've just discovered Laura Mercier's Caviar Sticks and have a couple on my wishlist, so I may have to pick one of these up when I purchase them. Pink Gold and Mercury look like lovely shades too!
