Vichy ProEven Daily Dark Spot Corrector + ProEven Night Overnight Concentrate

Good morning friends!

After last week's tragedy in my hometown of Moncton, my mind hasn't been much on blogging. It's been a full week since the fatal shootings, but I still can't quite grasp what happened in my small, safe and welcoming town of Moncton. All I have to say is I'm very relieved my family was safe in their basement, a fact only true because of the hard work of the RCMP during these events. So thank you.

Now, on to the review.

Before I was kindly sent the Vichy ProEven Night* for review, I had been actively using the Vichy ProEven Daily Dark Spot Corrector for a while on and off for almost a year. I'm actually a big fan of the ProEven Daily! It's my go-to product to reduce the look of those after-pimple dark spots left behind. This product works on my skin wonderfully. I apply the product to specific dark spots and after a couple days, I can see the area returning back to normal. I prefer using the ProEven Daily on older acne scars or flare-ups because the product isn't as drying as a regular acne cream. I never wake up with flaky patches with the ProEven Daily.

The ProEven, unlike the ProEven Daily, has a more fluid consistency. It feels a lot more like a serum, and is meant to be applied all over the face, every night. Personally, I don't feel my skin needs it every night. However, when I do use this product, my skin is really plump and moisturized in the morning. After using this product for a bit, I do feel my skin has a smoother texture. I don't however, notice that much of a difference in spot treatment. Perhaps it's because I use the ProEven Night all over my face, and my ProEven Daily on specific target areas? The ProEven Daily doesn't make my skin feel particularly hydrated, while the ProEven Night feels like a luxurious serum. And it smells like one too! The ProEven Night is said to have been tested on multi-ethnic skin. Of course, on my pale skin, I can't really test this claim.

I love both products for different reasons. I love the smell and the feel of the ProEven Night, but I think the ProEven Daily react better with my skin, and I see results faster. Heck, I even use both in combination sometimes since I love the moisturizing effect of the ProEven Night, but the ProEven really helps the resurfacing of skin cells!

Vichy Idéalia Life Serum - Bringing My Skin Back to Life

When I first gave the Vichy Idéalia a whirl, I was skeptical. I had noticed that the product had some red-toned shimmer in it, and I was willing to bet that it would made my pores look massive. And sure enough, I was wrong. It made my admittedly big pores look quite a lot smaller!

I was running a fever the day I decided to give this serum a go and was in no mood to wear any makeup. I had to run a couple errands but didn't feel like giving the "I'm contagious" vibe with the way my face was looking. I generously applied the Vichy Idéalia Life Serum to my mug, and magic happened. My dry patches were smoothed, my completion was more uniform, and I was glowing. The serum absorbed quite fast into my skin, and didn't leave my skin looking oily. I instagrammed a picture of it here, in case you're curious. I'm not the most confident person when it comes to my skin as I have a few acne scars, and large pores on my nose, but that day, I felt confident going out without any foundation on. To be fair though, I didn't have any massive pimples, and that usually makes me feel a little more confident. But my skin was seriously glowing.

The product stayed on my skin all day - I deduced this because I could still see some shimmer on my skin before I washed it at night. What I liked most about this product is that it didn't make my skin oily at all - most likely because this product absorbed fully into the skin. And it didn't leave a film on my skin like silicone based products tend to do.

I guess I chose a good time to test this product - the Vichy Idéalia Life Serum is meant to improve skin that has been affected by stress, fatigue, overexposure to sun, pollution, and an unbalanced diet. That's a lot! My skin has recently been affected by stress and fatigue especially, and I have to say that it really helped improve how healthy my skin looked.

I think this product would especially suit women who don't regularly wear foundation. In my opinion, if you're blessed with good skin, don't wear foundation - stick to tinted moisturizers, BB Creams and serums and let your natural beauty shine through! So if you're comfortable with extremely light coverage, you might find this product particularly suited to your needs. However, if you wear foundation daily (like me) but you're just looking for a good product on those "days-off makeup", this might be perfect for you as well! Just don't be put off by the shimmer when you test it on your hands - that's what truly makes your skin glow.

Dry Skin? Razor Bumps? Try the Vichy Nutriextra Extraordinary Oil!

Here's my usual morning routine. I shower, shave my legs, dry up, slather my trusty Hydraluron on my face, and then my Nuxe moisturizer. As you can see, I usually skip the step of moisturizing my body. Why do I do this when I actually really need moisturizer, especially on my legs? Well, because I hate the feeling of moisturizer on my body. I just can't quite get over the initial sticky feeling, and if the moisturizer is particularly heavy, I feel it on my skin all day. The problem is, my legs are very prone to ingrown hairs and dryness. It's pretty normal for me to find my legs super itchy from being so dry by the end of the day. So when I was offered the chance to review the Vichy Nutriextra Extraordinary Oil I was really happy since I knew I already liked a similar product in my Nuxe Huile Prodige.

The good thing about this dry oil is that it comes in a spray bottle. For someone like me who doesn't even like applying hair oil because of that yucky feeling in their hands, a spray is very welcome. However, don't do what I kept doing and spraying it on your legs over your tiled bathroom floor. You'll quickly realize, by stepping in slippery oil, that the spray reaches further than you think! I've since remedied this by spraying this on my legs over the bathtub. I usually use one spray per leg and then massage the oil in. It sinks immediately which solves the whole trying to put your jeans with moisturizer on your legs. Don't you hate that? Anyway, the best part of using this oil for me wasn't actually the feeling of putting the product on, it's how smooth my legs were feeling the next day. No razor burn, no bumps, just smooth legs. This oil is actually formulated without silicones, so the oil actually absorbs into the skin rather than sits on the surface.

If I were to compare this Vichy Nutriextra Oil to the Nuxe Huile Prodige, I'd have to truthfully say that I prefer the Vichy version. It is much easier to use because of the spray bottle (my Nuxe Huile Prodige is a mini which doesn't have the spray nozzle), and it smells better. I find the Nuxe scent quite strong while the Vichy oil is mild and disappears after bit. Weirdly enough, it smells exactly like my Nuxe 24 Hour Moisturizing Body Lotion. Like the Nuxe Oil, the Vichy Nutriextra Oil can be used on your hair as well, though I haven't tested that out yet. Just make sure you don't spray it on your roots!

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this product. The price point (at $29.50 for a bottle) is a bit higher than your average dry oil (however, the Nuxe Oil is more expensive), but in my opinion it is well worth the price.
