Spring fun with Borghese Menta!

This, my friends, is Borghese Menta, a very pretty light green, minty fresh, shimmery wonder.

I think it's a very pretty spring color. I don't think (like most greens on my skintone) that it gives much of a lobster hand - it's very wearable. The subtle shimmer running through the polish also gives it a soft focus effect. It is very pretty. A cream, lace dress with this polish screams spring to me!

This was three coats however, and with the lack of patience I have, it was a bit irritating. That was kind of remedied by the formula which dried uber fast. The pictures show that three coats might not have been enough as you can still see some bald spots on my nails.

If you live in Canada and love the color of this polish, grab it while you can because I have an inkling that this may be getting discontinued. I've been seeing this line of polish going on clearance in the Shopperses around town.

I have a crazy work week ahead of me so I better get to it!

Borghese Euro Green: Wallis Dupe?

I have been totally wanting Butter London's new polish for the 2011 fall collection called Wallis. But because I'm po' and shipping within Canada is like 10 bucks for ONE polish from their website (ridic much?) I decided to get Borghese's Euro Green instead to satisfy my Wallis craving. I don't own Wallis to compare but from what I've seen, they're pretty similar no?

I think Wallis may have bigger glitter bits and less goldish tones in it. I'm very happy with this polish nonetheless. Actually, I don't think I've ever been truly disappointed by Borghese.

Capri Coral

Boy, did I enjoy my long weekend. Thunderstorms, kayaking, family... It was fabulous! It's been a while since I've had a weekend that was out of the ordinary.

I'm posting today to share a new favorite of mine: Borghese's Capri Coral. It's a bright red/orange shade. A true coral in my opinion. This is two coats with Seche Vite. Excuse the thumb mess.

The color was very hard to capture on camera. But it's a very red coral. It's definitely not a classic red though - it pulls towards the orange. As usual for me, the Borghese formula was excellent with this polish.

Borghese again!

Hi all! Happy Saturday night. I'm spending an excellent night with the hunny, blogging whilst he's playing a video game. We also watched The Sixth Sense since I had never seen it before. I liked it a lot! Bruce Willis was pretty awesome in his prime.

Moving on. Here's Borghese's Stellar Notte.

 

If the bottle looks small, it's because it's a mini! The polish is gorgeous. It has flashes of green and purple but still has a gunmetal feel to it. Seems like it could be similar to Chanel's Black Pearl if it didn't have the purple flash in it - the purple flash isn't too strong though. The shimmer is very small which gives it a flawless application. This is two thin coats and Seche Vite topcoat. I can't speak highly enough of Borghese - not one polish I have of theirs is a dud. I think I have about 5 by now... and counting because it's on SALE this week!

A new fave in a much needed time...

This saved my week. So far. Because boy, am I having a rotten week. And it's only Tuesday.

Saturday was so horrid. I started some kind of weird flu/sinus infection and was bed ridden with fever all weekend, including a beautiful, sunny and warm Saturday. I'm still stuffed. I cannot wait for this cold to be over.

BUT, on Friday, I picked up a beautiful polish which helped the beginning of my week.

It's called Buon Viaggio Mauve by Borghese. Borghese is quickly climbing up the ranks as one of my favorite brands (after Essie). Just lookatit!

It's a perfect soft, muted mauve, with grayish tones in it. Seriously, one of my fave polishes. It's opaque in two coats (even if it doesn't look like it in the pictures), wears well, and is office appropriate. I even got compliments on it at work!

The smell of polish really doesn't help a sinus infection/whatever it is I have. Totally stings the nostrils. Wouldn't recommend it.

It's okay, you can sing it.

It's a pretty sort of berry color. I'm not sure I like it. It doesn't strike me as different or original. It's pretty much opaque in one coat though, which I like a lot. It's pretty, and very much my type of color but I'm still meh about it. Maybe tomorrow it'll be more appealing.

Right now, the sleep monster is taking me away. I cannot wait for another day of work full of laboured breathing and coughing. UGH! Please go away sickness!

Nameless Borghese

Did you know that Borghese means middle-class in English? Well, you must be smarter than me because I surely didn't. I had to babelfish it.

If you're thinking, my my, her hands look grubby, you're totally right. I've been having a stressful few days and my cuticles always get the worst of it when that happens. Poor, bloody and dry cuticles. Nail polish usually help because then I don't want to ruin it by picking at my nails. And to add, I grated my knuckles. 

This polish doesn't have a name on the bottle. But it's a gorgeous iridescent red with a hint of pink in it. I can see myself wearing this many times. Have you noticed I'm biased toward reds yet?
