Here are some of my favorite lip glosses of the moment
From left to right, we've got: Marcelle Creme Lux Gloss in Rouge Velouté, Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Creme in Cherry Flip (recently reviewed here), MAC Cremesheen in Partial to Pink, Clarins Color Quench Lip Balm in Peach Nectar, Marcelle Creme Lux Glossy in Spicy Nude (reviewed here), and Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Creme in White Russian.
Of these, I place my Buxom glosses and the Clarins as the most
moisturizing. The prettiest shade goes to Marcelle's Rouge Velouté
(seriously gorgeous on!) and the my favorite nude gloss is definitely
Marcelle's Spicy Nude. MAC's Cremesheen in Partial to Pink is a great
year-round neutral pink gloss - and it smells delicious. I've been wearing these un-layered, on their own, for the past month, with a light foundation, groomed brows, blush, and water-proof mascara. Eyeshadow is often skipped because my eyes water too much with the wind we've been having. We're all familiar with tailoring makeup to heat and humidity, but makeup in winter is a whole other story!
Lesson of the year: winter sucks. Do yourself (and your lips) a favor if you live in a wintery place right now - whip out your lip glosses, and apply generously. Bonus points if the glosses are moisturizing. Winter: 3 points (-31C weather, 30 cm of snow on Saturday, 25 cm of snow tomorrow), Annick: 1 point for lipgloss. Can winter be over soon please?! How do you change your makeup routine for winter?
My lips are so cracked right now, I'm wearing only a moisturising balm... Perhaps you should try a "substitute" lipstick, though - like Revlon's lip butters - they are simply great if you lips are chapped (but be sure to pick one of the darker, the lighter shades accentuate flakiness) :)
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny you mention that Eli, I had a post in the works on Revlon's Lip Butters! You're right, they are really great as a lipstick substitute!
Delete-31!!!? And here I am complaing of -10 here in Toronto haha. Winter doesn`t stop me from wearing lipstick but I usually pair it with lipgloss when it`s brutal outside. Lovely picks, I really want to try more Cremesheen glosses by MAC.
ReplyDeleteIt's been milder lately, thank goodness. But for a while there, it was consistently in the - 25 to 30. The Cremesheens are an excellent formula!
DeleteLove the look of that Marcelle gloss! I've actually never tried a Marcelle gloss! I'm a bad canuck hahaha!
ReplyDeleteYou'd love them Tracy! They have lovely shades, and they're pretty opaque - well, the Lux Creme versions anyway ;)
DeleteI really like the Clarins gloss here, what a surprise. My favourite glosses are Chanel and Burberry (but I have to admit that I am not a huge gloss person :P), I also like Buxom :)
ReplyDeleteI have one Chanel gloss and I really like it actually! I should whip it back out. And ughhh, I want Burberry lip glosses so bad!
DeleteOh my goodness! Have you been reading my mind? ;-) I just finished writing a post about lipgloss and how I'm trying to incorporate it into my looks this week! Love these suggestions. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha no way! The cold is making us do it! Go Canada! ;)
DeleteAlthough I'm trying to get more into lipstick, I'll always be a lip gloss girl. I love all the shades in this post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl! What's your favorite lip gloss?
DeleteI definitely agree with you! Even though I have converted from lipglosses to lipsticks since I started blogging, they just won't cut it in the winter, even those that claim to be non-drying or moisturizing! I have recently discovered PUPA Glossy Lips lipglosses which contain argan oil (?!) and I am so, SO in love! Thes emight be my new HG lipglosses!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check them out Gaby! Do you have a review on them?
DeleteThanks for the comment! <3
