It's almost NYE, so what better way to start the New Year than with a pretty badass highlighter on yo face? That's my plan anyway.

I'll be spending my NYE at an outside (freezing) location for Canada 150 celebrations. Woo! So, no fancy dresses, so high-heels I can't walk in - no, I'll be sporting my thickest, puffy coat, a tuque, and the new winter boots I was gifted for Christmas. We ain't joking around in this part of the country.

What I CAN sport however in frigid weather, is a lovely highlighter. In fact, because my eyes stream as the tiniest amount of wind, I'll be highlighter and waterproof mascara for me. Oh, Canada.

MAKE UP FOR EVER's Pro Light Fusion Highlighters have made quite the splash around social media. Temptalia even put it in her top 20 of the year!

I have to say, I'm not the kind of person who puts highlighter on every day, but this product is so lovely, I've been seen slathering it on for work.

MAKE UP FOR EVER's Pro Light Fusion has a smooth, buttery texture. I find the texture of the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed a bit too soft, and it has a tendency to crumble. I find I can easily apply too much because the texture is so soft. The Pro Light Fusion's texture is just right for me. Smooth and buttery when applied, but it doesn't crumble, and it's a lot more buildable. There's no risk of applying too much, especially with a fluffier brush.

And I mean, I just get happy opening the damn product. Look at that pattern!

I received the shade 01 Golden Pink for consideration and it's a stunning shade. At first, I thought it might be a bit too pink, but it doesn't register as pink on the skin. It's a light frosty cool toned ivory-pink. It's simply lovely. The shimmer is fine and contains no chunky glitter. It actually looks pretty natural on the skin.

I've taken a few picture of a heavy swatch of the product on my hand in warmer light, and in brighter cooler light. As you can see, it still looks quite ivory-pink. Sephora lists this highlighter as "for light to medium skintones" and I would tend to agree with them. The second shade, 02 Golden, also looks absolutely stunning. Have you tried it?

I have to say, unlike a lot of bloggers out there, I've never gotten on the highlighter bandwagon, simply because I have oilier skin. But this highlighter is the BOMB. It's very lovely and shimmery on the skin, without being too much for me. I 100% this product if you're looking for a similar shade of highlighter - I'm pretty sure BECCA don't make a similar shade (Opal is a lot more ivory than pink). However, if you're looking to BLIND someone with your highlighter, I'd suggest you move along to BECCA products. At $48 CAN, this highlighter is not cheap, but I personally would purchase it in a heartbeat - it's worth the investment.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #191919; font-family: "georgia" , serif; font-size: xx-small;">* I have received this product for consideration, but my opinions are always my own. I am not being compensated for this review and I always strive to review products with honesty.Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-91010607450679909192016-12-06T13:50:00.000-08:002016-12-06T13:50:01.132-08:00Zoeva Makeup Brush Review - 231, 226, 234 and 114
As a treat to myself a few weeks ago, I made a naughty purchase - I bought some makeup brushes from Zoeva. Ok, I actually bought these about a year ago, and this review sat on the back burner for quite a while. But hey, now you're just getting a better review because I've been testing them for so long!

While some other bloggers/youtubers claim Zoeva brushes are an "affordable" brush option, for us Canadians, they are not really that affordable. With about C$20 in shipping, averaging each brush around $15, the prices of the brushes itself are just ok. Definitely not a crazy bargain.

My purchases?

- 231 Luxe Petit Crease
- 226 Smudger
- 234 Luxe Smoky Shader
- 114 Luxe Face Focus

The brushes themselves are of excellent quality. The handles are solid and I haven't had any shedding problems with the brushes. I'd say the quality is comparable to my MAC brushes - however, the glossy finish on the handle does make them seem less luxurious - although that's simply my opinion. I prefer a matte finish such as my MAC brushes, or my NARS brushes.

The 231 Luxe Petit Crease is a brush that was missing in my arsenal. The tip of the brush is more precise than a MAC 217 and smaller. It's very useful for applying eyeshadow precisely in the crease, or the outer crease. I was initially apprehensive about the stiffness of the brush thinking it would not blend eyeshadow properly, but in fact, it works like a charm. It applies the shadow right where I want it, but also blended it softly. This brush is a must if you lack something similar in your repertoire.

The 226 Smudger brush was also something I was missing in my collection. I don't often put eyeshadow on my lower lashline - all my brushes are a bit too big for the job. I find shadow on my lower lashes can also make me look a bit tired - I just don't have a lot of space to work with. This Smudger brush, however, does the job amazingly. Not only does it apply shadow on my bottom lashline very close to my lashline, but it also smudges it out easily. However, my favorite way to use this brush is to smudge out liner on my upper lashline to add a bit of smokiness to an every day look. A must in any collection.

I'm going to be honest, I bought the 234 Luxe Smoky Shader brush simply because I wanted a dupe for my MAC 239, and I think I found it! While this brush is a tad (seriously just a bit) less dense, it performs just as well as my 239. In fact, I have a hard time finding differences between the two when I can't see the handles.

My intention for the 114 Face Focus was to use it as a highlighting brush. When I received it though, it was way smaller than I thought it would be. Still, it's not comparable to anything else I own, and applies highlighter smoothly and beautifully. I like that it deposits highlighter in more specific areas of my face (I'm not one to highlight a ton) and it blends the highlight easily.

As I said, the quality of these brushes is excellent. I've used them for about a year now, washed them numerous times, and they're still in great shape. They haven't frayed at the edges, and they haven't stained.

If you're looking to invest in a good set of brushes, but not "invest" in pricier classic brushes such as MAC, I highly recommend Zoeva brushes. I'm very happy with the quality of my purchase and they definitely measure up to other high quality brushes such as MAC. A+!

As a beauty blogger, it's safe to say that I've tested a LOT of products. And in time, I've become pickier and pickier about the products I hold on to. I've returned or gotten rid of palettes that are beloved by beauty addicts such as the Naked 2 and the Too Faced Chocolate palette. I can't help it, my tastes have evolved! That's why the Inglot make your own palette option is kind of perfect for me.

During a 20% off sale (they do happen, there is hope!) I purchased 8 shades (I already owned 2 I really liked) and a 10 pan palette.
Just look at this neutral goodness. All shades I can use on a daily basis, with a good mix of matte shades and shimmers.

As you can see, I totally nicked one of my older shadows. Oh well. That's my one complaint with the packaging - it's super easy to nick shadows are they are quite hard to remove from the pan.
Matte 328 (M328), Shine 154, Pearl 406 (P406), Pearl 409 (P409) Pearl 397 (P397), Matte 337 (M337), Matte 360 (M360), and the shadows I already owned, Pearl 402 (P402) and Pearl 422 (P422).

While I thought my favorite shades would be the Shine finishes, I actually absolutely love the Pearl finishes. I already loved 402, but 397 is a better and improved MAC All That Glitters. It's absolutely perfect for a quick every day eye with a bit of Matte 337 and 360 in the crease. The Matte shadows are of amazing quality. I had heard reviews that described them as being powdery - I tend to agree that they are on the more powdery side, but I think that's what makes a matte shadow really blendable and easy to work with. And this is true here - the shades are buttery soft and incredibly easy to blend. I felt like the Matte shadows in the Too Faced Chocolate palette were way more powdery. Pearl 406 is a bit too orange for me, so I wear this shade less often. I love Matte 328 to prime my lids (after a my trusty Urban Decay Lid Primer of course). It doesn't appear on my skin, but it makes my shadow last even longer. The Shine 154 and 153 are gorgeous, but they really are quite ... shiny! While I thought these would be everyday shadows, I find them quite intense. Still though, they're absolutely stunning and the finish reminds me of the very shimmery Anastasia shadows that recently released.

I do regret not including a dark brown in this palette. In fact, I might switch one of them out for a deep brown. Silly me, I was swayed by all the beautiful shimmery options, I didn't include a dark brown. Other than for that omission, this palette is pretty much the perfect neutral palette.

As a side note, I do think Inglot could do some work on their website to make the shadows easier to pick out. The only thing available is a color swatch (not a real photo) and the shade name. No description of the shade, and you the different finishes are divided into different categories. It's all very confusing. The websites indicates how much is left in stock, but no shade description. Makes no sense. I feel like a they'd get a lot more purchases if the website was easier to navigate and they included shade descriptions. It was quite the process picking out a shadow and doing tons of googling to see how the shade looks in real life. And that X8 was almost too much. I'm glad I persisted because these shadows are totally worth it. But unless you can get yourself to a store (they do have a few in Canada!) you're in for a treat.

Hope this review was helpful to you. I think that if you have the patience to pick these shadows out, they are 100% worth it. In terms of quality, I'd say they definitely surpass my MAC shadows, and are quite similar in texture to Anastasia shadows I own. They are incredibly long lasting, a quality that's very important to me as I have oily eyelids.Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-25356893913352934452016-05-09T06:02:00.002-07:002016-05-09T06:02:13.706-07:00What's in my Z Palette? Swatches Included!
Because I've spent some time building the perfect palette in the past few months, getting rid of shadows I don't use, and re-purchasing shadows I'd used up, I thought it would be fun to do a post on what's in my Z-Palette.

So, without further ado, let's get to the pictures and swatches!
After seeing this palette appear on Tati's Youtube Channel I was secretly praying that they would appear in Canada. As us Canadians beauty lovers know, not everything the US has in terms of drugstore makeup makes it across the border.

I found my palette at my local Lawtons (Rexall, I believe for other provinces) and waited a couple weeks to finally find it on sale. Score!

I bought the 05 Earthy Elements palette to review which contains 6 shades.

And because I was working with sun that day, palette in the sun.

The shadows are of surprising quality. They are quite buttery without being powdery and blend extremely easily on the lid. The only "meh" shade is the first shade of the palette which is quite hard in texture and difficult to pick up with a brush (and with fingers). However, all the other shades are quite amazing. The shadows lasted on my oily eyelids (with primer) all day, no problem.

Left to right in the palette, in direct sunlight. You can see here that the first shade is a glittery chunky mess.

The second shade from the left in this palette is the perfect crease color. It's so easy to blend, and it's the perfect warm, but not too warm, buttery crease color. It reminds me a lot of MAC's Wedge. The orange shade (third from the left) is so pigmented and bright! It's a bit too bright for my tastes, but it blends wonderfully. These two matte shades are of excellent quality - and we know drugstore matte shades tend to be duds. The last shade of the palette is an excellent dupe of MAC's Sable and is super easy to work with. My favorite is definitely the fourth shade - it's a perfect one and done shadow.

Even if these colors are dupeable, this palette would be very useful to travel with as the packaging is quite sturdy. For a palette that's less than C$15, you definitely get your money's worth out of the 5 shades that are of excellent quality. Plus, the warm tones are gorgeous for anyone with blue/green eyes! The Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade seems to be one of those items that divides beauty bloggers - they either love it, or absolutely hate it. While it does seem to have excellent reviews on Sephora, I personally sit somewhere in the middle.

I bought this product about 3 months ago in the shade Ash Brown. The pomade is smudge-free and waterproof and is meant to be applied with a brush. I bought a Sephora Collection Pro Brow Brush #20 to use with it. I solely chose it because it had decent reviews, and it had a spoolie on the end.

First off, do not buy this brush. I love a firm angle brush, and while I thought it would be fine for eyebrows, it does not apply the product as precisely as I would like. This is definitely a pass for me.

As for the pomade itself. It's only ok. I like to use it when I have a bit more time for makeup because it's a lot easier to create a full eyebrow look with this product as opposed to a brow pencil. Plus, it really does stay all day on my skin. However, the faff of the pomade itself is not always worth it to me since I'm all about practicality in makeup.

The color itself is pretty perfect for my brows. However, it's quite pigmented (as you can see in the swatch) and doesn't allow too many mistakes. In fact, in the swatch above, you can see how the product gradually wears off the brush. The last stroke from the brush would be my ideal texture and pigmentation. Instead, I have to work with that first swatch which can be a bit difficult.

I have read other reviews that indicate that this pomade does dry down a bit and the texture gets better. But you know, who wants to wait for that?

If you're used to pencils for your brows, I'd say don't bother with this. Pencils, in my opinion, work much better. If you're a beauty fanatic, and don't mind a bit of extra time on your makeup, then this might be for you. And at C$23 for a product that you use only a tiny little bit at a time, it's a decent bang for your buck.
I love lipstick, but I'm not going to lie, when I do my makeup in the mornings, I'm in such a rush that I barely even think of what I'm putting on my lips before I step out the door. All the more reason for some useful, go with everything lipsticks in my arsenal.

Today I bring you three lipsticks I've been loving lately. Colourpop has been coming out with some lovely shades lately and two of my favourites have been Lumière and Aquarius, coincidentally, both created in collaboration with Kathleen Lights. Both are so easy to apply and go well with any makeup look. The only downside? For some reason, Aquarius smells like caramel, and I really don't like it.

Everyone seems to just love the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons, me included. I truly have never found such a creamy matte moisturizing lipstick. My shade of the moment - Glacé, a dusty mauve shade that brightens up my complexion. It's such an easy to wear shade.
Being a pale lady, finding a good bronzer has always been quite a challenge for me. They're either too yellow, not warm enough, too glittery... and the list goes on. After reading a ton of reviews (as I do when buying any product) on the Estee Lauder Bronzer Goddess in 02 Medium, I thought it might be a good match.

First off, it's massive! You're sure to have plenty to last you a whole year! Secondly, the packaging is pretty damn perfect - sturdy with a tortoise shell patter with a gigantic mirror on the inside. Love!

The blush is smooth, and easy to blend. The shade is quite neutral, yet leans a bit warm, and almost has a tinge of pink. I find it quite flattering on my skintone. You can't tell from the pictures, but it does contain a bit of shimmer. I don't find this translates on my face at all.

Because it's so difficult to swatch a bronzer alone (how can you tell if it's warm or ashy?) I decided to pull my bronzers and compare it to the Bronze Goddess in Medium 02.

In the sun, on a sunny day

As you can see in the swatches, the Estee Lauder bronzer applies quite smoothly. Comparatively, the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Power, Body Shop Bronzer and Nars Laguna appear to be harder to blend out - I'd say this is accurate with a brush application on the face as well. To be fair, my Nars Laguna is really old and needs to be thrown out. So let's not judge the swatch - it's still a great product. The Body Shop Bronzer in 01, as you may be able to tell, isn't very pigmented - it appears powdery because I really had to layer it for the color to show up. And yeah, I'm not a big fan on that one.

In terms of shade, it seems to be somewhere in the middle of MAC Harmony and The Body Shop Bronzer. I wouldn't use the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder for bronzer as it is very ashy brown.

If you're looking for a good bronzer for the summer I definitely recommend this one - but try it on first as bronzers can appear different on everyone! The Estee Lauder bronzer retails for C$42 for 0.74 oz while the Nars Laguna is C$52 for 0.28 oz. Yikes! Guess which one I'll be re-purchasing... if I ever finish it!Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-14826713447441231762016-03-10T06:00:00.002-08:002016-03-10T06:00:32.131-08:00Clinique Pop Lip Colour in Nude Pop 01 and Bare Pop 02 Review
I don't know why it took me so long to try these, but I only got around to trying these Clinique Pop Lip Colour a few months ago. Actually, that's not totally accurate. I've had the Nude Pop 01 for a while, but had only worn it a few times. To be honest, I wasn't totally impressed but wanted to give it a fair shot. The reviews were so great on this, maybe I was missing something?

I started wearing Nude Pop 01 a lot more and the texture seemed to change. It was more emollient and smooth - maybe it just needed breaking in? I wanted to try a different shade so I decided to give Bare Pop 02 a go.

I love their packaging. How neat is it that their packaging correspond with the color inside the tube? Unfortunately, the two I own are so similar that I can't really tell them apart by looking! The rest of the range however has quite varied colors. The packaging is also sturdy and the cap feels very secure.

The formula is quite nice. I wouldn't say this is a very moisturizing lipstick, but it's comfortable to wear. It's a lot moisturizing for me than say a MAC lipstick - those tend to make my lips peel. I get a good 4+ hours wear out of these. For my drinking coffee/eating snacks all day self, that's pretty damn good.

Nude Pop 01 on the left, Bare Pop 02 on the right

Errrm, this is awkward. They look almost exactly the same in the swatch! I swear, on the lips, they look completely different on me. Bare Pop looks like a dark blush nude and Nude Pop looks like a true pinky nude on my lips. Bare Pop also has quite a heavy glitter - which almost put me off purchasing it. The glitter doesn't really transfer on the lips - it's there, but it wears off beautifully and you're not left with glitter chunks on your lips once the lipstick wears off. Thank goodness or else it would be a fail for me! Nude Pop is truly a perfect nude - not too pink, not too brown, and goes with everything. You can't go wrong with that one.

If you're in the market for a new lipstick, I'd highly recommend you check the range. There are a ton of colours available, and in true Clinique fashion, affordable and less than high-end brands retailing at C $22.

Have you tried these lipsticks? Which shade is your favorite? Send me some recommendations - I've got my eye on Plum Pop next!
A little late, but here are the products I've been using non-stop this February!

I never bothered purchasing the Lorac Pro when all the hype was happening around it. But this past winter, I saw it on Ebay for a reasonable price and thought it would be fun to try it out! Don't worry, it's completely authentic - I did a ton or research to make sure I wasn't getting duped. I'm happy to report that I've gotten a ton of use out of this beauty. The matte shades are soft and easy to blend, the shimmery shades are gorgeous and pigmented, and you can pretty much create any look with this! My favorite shades this month have been the Gold shade and the Light Bronze. Unfortunately, this palette isn't readily available in Canada, but you can purchase it on Amazon (sadly, at a ridiculous mark up).

I've been try to curate my makeup brushes this month and one of the stand outs I've recently purchased at Winners is this Olive & Olivia angled brush. I struggled for the longest time to find a brush in my collection that worked well for applying the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder but this brush works perfectly. It picks up the colour quite lightly and blends it out so easily. Unfortunately, I can't find this brush online, but check your local Winners in case it's available! Keep your eyes open for a favorite brush post soon on this blog!
The two lip products I've been completely obsessed over has been the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector in 08 (as you may have guessed) and the Lise Watier Baume Gourmand in Rose. You can read the Lip Perfector review here, but basically, I absolutely love this product. I bought 07 this weekend and cannot wait to wear it! The Lise Watier Baume Gourmand was a surprise for me - I purchased it on a whim at a Shoppers Spend Your Points event and have worn it so much since. It description is accurate - it's a balm as it does have moisturizing properties, but it also gives quite the lovely natural pink flush of colour on my lips. I've been loving this easy to wear option. And plus, the packaging is adorable!
I've long been a fan of Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Pencil formula, the black colour being one of my favorite liners ever. So it was only natural that I pick up the Coffee 02 colour eventually and it's quickly becoming my favorite brown liner. It has a lovely smudger on the end which is super convenient for smoking out your liner. And it seriously stays on all day.
Laura Mercier's blush in Spiced Cider is not a blush I would have picked up had I not seen it on other bloggers with fair skin. It seems so dark in the pan and the shade is what I would describe as a terracotta rose/coral. On the skin, it gives me such a gorgeous glow that I've been wearing it a lot this past month with more bronze eyeshadow. I've already professed my love for Laura Mercier blushes and seriously don't know why these don't get more love.

Clarins has long been a favorite of mine in the lip product department. Long before I tested the Spring 2016 shades of the Rouge Eclat, I owned a few other shades (maybe one of them was Nude Rose 01?) which I loved but they have since expired and have been thrown out. So I was quite excited to test these out again!

The packaging of the Rouge Eclat is pure luxury - a gold solid base where the lipstick is contained, and a lovely sturdy plastic cover. I love that there is no chance for the base of the lipstick to break off - this baby is secure! And I'm such a sucker for gold packaging, let's be honest.

I don't know if it's the weather (-30C guys, like really), but I was a bit disappointed with the formula and found these dried my lips after a couple hours. I'm not sure why as they apply quite creamy, feel great on the lips and they even smell amazing. But for me, they simply weren't moisturizing enough. The color payoff of these is great, albeit a bit sheer. I'm personally a fan of more sheer lipsticks as I find they make my lips look plumper and younger - I'm definitely not on the liquid lipstick bandwagon. Even with its emollient and less opaque formula, which tends to wear off quickly, these lipsticks wore 4+ hours on me.

Left to right in natural light, Pink Cherry (24), Hot Rose (23), Rose Praline (26) and the Instant Light Lip Perfector in 08

My favorite is Rose Praline (26). It's the perfect my-lips-but-peachier shade that goes with absolutely any makeup look. I think Hot Rose (23) and Pink Cherry (24) will be absolutely perfect for Spring with a lovely cat eye liner - I can just picture it. And with the warmer weather, maybe my lips won't feel as dry under these lipsticks.

The arrival of two new shades of the Instant Light Lip Perfectors created a bit of hype online! I knew I'd be getting my hands on the 08 shade as soon as I could and I'm so happy I did. It's a gorgeous berry shade that looks natural, but still pigmented on the lips. I absolutely LOVE this product. What amazes me the most is how moisturizing this gloss/balm hybrid is. I'm wearing this shade today, and my lips still have some product, and feel completely moisturized after 4+ hours of wear, coffee, water, a granola bar, and honeydew melon. That's kind of kick ass!

While I was a bit disappointed in the Rouge Eclat, I am completely smitten with the Instant Light Lip Perfector in 08. You absolutely needs this if you have dry lips but can never find a lip color that has the moisturizing properties you need. I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy the 07 shade before it's out of stock! Nay, I will absolutely buy it. It's also stunning.
Good morning friends!

It is absolutely hellish outside today. It's a little strange walking on thick ice, trying not to fall, while being lashed with rain, listening to the thunder roll. Yes, I live in Canada, but this is some weird weather even for us!

For review this week are the Ombre Iridescente from the Clarins 2016 Spring collection. I'll be reviewing other pieces from the collection next week so stay tuned!

First off, it has to be said, the Ombre Iridescente are stunning guys. Creamy, but intensely pigmented. Sadly, I'm missing Silver Plum but from testing them out, the other three in the collection are just as good.

It's hard to tell in this photo because of the lighting, but how adorable is it that the lids of these shadows correspond to the colour inside? I love it when that happens! And you know, metallic lids! The packaging is sturdy, easy to open, but closes firmly - there's nothing worst than faulty packaging on a cream product!
I find these shadows, although described as a cream, are not really your traditional cream shadow. They are quite creamy in texture, yes, but they basically apply and feel like any regular shadow - maybe more like the texture of a Make Up For Ever or Urban Decay shadow. I find they apply and blend beautifully with fingers, but also work quite well with a brush.

Silver Ivory 04 is a gorgeous shimmery light taupe shade. Looking through my collection, Urban Decay's Verve is probably the most similar shade but Silver Ivory is a lot more warm. And for me, because it's so warm, it's a very easy shade to wear. I applied it all over the lid and popped a bit of a neutral brown matte shade in the crease and I was good to go for the day. I had no problem with the shade creasing during the day - it wore quite well. For the record, I always wear an eyeshadow base, and in this case, it was the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I wore Silver Pink 05 in a similar way as Silver Ivory - all over the lid with a warm brown in the crease. It was so easy to blend and looked beautiful on the lid. For those of you who do not like rosy shades on your eyes, I'd suggest skipping on this one. It's quite pink and without an inner corner highlight, darker crease shade and a bit of eyeliner, it can make you look a bit tired. To be fair, I wore this one when I was ill, and it probably wasn't the right shade to wear on a day where your nose is red from using a full box of kleenex. I've been really into rosy shades lately so I was particularly excited to try this one and it ended up being my favorite.

I wanted to wear Silver Green 06 in a different way than the two others to see how versatile these Ombre Iridescente shadows could be. I applied Urban Decay's Pistol (a greyish shade) shade all over my lid and dabbed Silver Green in the middle of my lid and inner corner. Again, I had the Urban Decay primer potion underneath this concoction. It looked beautiful. I'm really not one for green shadows since I have blue eyes, but I loved this. It gave a bit of a twist to a smokey eye! However, this did not wear well on me and I experienced creasing towards the inner corner by the end of the day. I don't think layering this shadow on top of another gave it a good surface to set. Maybe this product is more of a cream formula than I thought? I suspect anyone with non-oily eyelids will not have a problem with this.

Overall, I think these are worth the price. At C$25, it doesn't break the bank and you get a long wearing, easy to apply shadow. I know I don't have it to review, but I'm seriously lusting after Silver Plum and suspect it is probably the most versatile, one shadow and go, shade of the bunch. In case you'd like to see a another review, which includes Silver Plum, check out this one from Temptalia. Second to that, I'd suggest Silver Ivory 04, as it's beautiful on the lid, and quite versatile as well. Honestly, you can't go wrong with these. And if shimmery shades are not your thing, Clarins does offer the same shadow in a matte formula - I haven't tried them, but a quick Google search indicates them being reviewed quite well!
Last time I gave you a peek at my makeup collection was in 2014, so I thought it was time to give you another look at what's been happening in my makeup drawers.

I've spent the last month cleaning out bits I no longer use and throwing out old dried up products. I'm sad to say that I had to get rid of a lot. BUT, now with a more condensed and tailored collection, I'm finding it way easier to be a bit more creative with makeup.

I store my skincare items on this copper tray I found at Home Sense. I also keep samples I plan on using. Anything that requires a cotton pad stays in the bathroom. I'm on my third tub of the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night. LOVE that product.
On top of my Ikea Alex, I try to keep makeup items that I reach for often, or that I'm testing for review. At the moment, I'm testing out the new Clarins Ombre Iridescente Cream eyeshadows, the Bourgeois Air Mat foundation (on a ttsandra recommendation) and the Estee Lauder Goddess Bronzer.
I also keep my jewelry in little dishes I've picked up here and there. You can't see it but the dish holding my earrings has a heart at the bottom. It's one of my favorites.

In the drawers, I keep eyeshadows in the first one. Because my local Shoppers Drug Mart now carries Urban Decay products, I've been able to redeem my points for the Naked and Naked 2 palettes which I absolutely love. I also keep my Lorac Pro palette, a few Dior palettes and individual shadows. One of my favorites is the Le Métier de Beauté Corinthian shadow. A lot of my cream shadows have dried up, but I can't seem to part with them.
The third drawer contains my lipsticks. The ones I wear the most are usually in the jewelry trays on top of my dresser, but I try to change them up once in a while. I have a little bit of everything in there - high end lipsticks and drugstore options as well. For someone who rarely wears reds, I sure have a ton of them in this drawer! My favorite reds are Nars Cruella and the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. Clinique's Two Ton Tomato is pretty great too!
So there you have it, a peek at my makeup bits. I love the way I store my makeup because it's so clean and organized (for me). How do you store your makeup?Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-5243820982364697632016-02-12T07:10:00.001-08:002016-02-12T07:10:22.269-08:00Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour Blush in Rose Petal Review
I've been sort of looking for the perfect product to replace my beloved Shu Uemura Blush in the shade M Pink 31. Since this favorite of mine seems to be discontinued, I haven't had much of a choice but to selectively use it while looking for another similar option. About a month ago, when I purchased the Laura Mercier Second Skin Blush in Rose Petal, it occurred to me that the texture and the shades were very similar. They are also both so soft and light it reminds me of the feel of a powder like the MAC Prep and Prime.

When I realized they were so similar in texture and feel, it occurred to me they were also very similar shades. A quick swatch later, I realized that they were in fact very similar. The Shu Uemura pulls a bit more nude/plum than the Laura Mercier blush, but still, quite similar.

I bought the Laura Mercier blush and by chance it ended up being a dupe for my favorite blush! Score!

Rose Petal is the perfect natural blush pink. It's pigmented, but not so pigmented that you have to be careful when applying it. I know a lot of makeup fanatics love a pigmented blush, but I prefer when I don't have to work or think too much when applying my makeup. This is why I reach for this product so often - I don't even have to think about it and I get perfectly rosy cheeks.

I own a couple more shades of Laura Mercier blushes and they are of excellent quality. If you're looking for a natural rosy flush and have light to medium skin, this will definitely suit you. However, I'd suggest some of the darker shades in this range if you have darker skin tone as this blush is quite light. At C$30, this blush isn't drugstore cheap, but totally worth the price in my opinion.
Ah yes, the famed Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer. This product has gotten a lot of hype recently, and with good reason.

The Ultra HD Concealer comes in two sets of shades - the R shades that are peachier for correcting darkness on your skin, and the Y shades for general concealing. They can be used separately, or together by layering the product to completely mask any imperfection.

I received shade Y23 for review which is a perfect match for my skin tone. Surprisingly, the concealer has an even lighter shade than that - I'm usually the lightest shade!

This concealer is incredibly pigmented. In the picture below is an example of how much you need to conceal your under-eye area. Basically, the tiniest little drop. The applicator is a plastic tip, which is nothing special in itself, but it dispenses the product very little at a time. Luckily, there isn't much of a chance of over-doing it.

The product applies beautifully - I've used it with my fingers, a synthetic concealer blending brush as well as with a Beauty Blender. I personally prefer using it with a small concealer buffing brush or the Beauty Blender. I find that using my fingers can make the product stick to my fingers rather than to my skin. The formula is a bit tacky, so my fingers can cause it to lift from my skin, especially if you are spreading the product around. Patting it lightly works perfectly fine, though, but ain't nobody got time for that. And I certainly don't have the patience. So buffing brush it is!

I've used this product to cover my dark circles and it works wonderfully, leaving a brightening effect under my eye. It leaves my skin looking like skin and not caked with product. It is worth noting that unless you have a very smooth under eye, you most likely will have to set this product with powder. I did experience a tiny bit of creasing closer to my inner corner without powdering. With powdering, I experienced no creasing - and I always set my under eye so it's not a problem for me. To test this product fully, I've also used it around my nose, my forehead and some blemishes and I'm happy to report that it works quite well. I think that in the future I'll be less inclined to use it on my blemishes simply because the formula is so thin. The concealer stayed on my skin all day without fading when set with powder.

I hope this review was helpful in deciding whether this is a product for you. If you're looking for a darkness cancelling under eye concealer, I'd suggest checking out the R range of shades, but if you're looking for more of brightening effect, with good concealing properties, I'd say this product might be for you. The product is not cheap selling at Sephora for C$32.00, so I suggest you give it a try in store before purchasing. However, with the extremely pigmented formula, this concealer will last you a long time for the price point!
A blush palette, guys. I just couldn't say no. If you're a bit of a beauty addict like me, you know these don't come around too often. Nars do them a few times a year, and Urban Decay just came out with one. But at a C$45 price point, this palette is a steal compared to those two.

Let's take a moment to acknowledge the packaging. To be completely honest, I hate it. It's really not my style at all - if I had it my way, all makeup packaging would be simple and black à la Lorac Pro Palette. But obviously, this style is suited to some as its been getting rave reviews. To each their own. And packaging obviously doesn't affect the product inside, so it's a small gripe.

For all the complaining I'm doing about the look of the packaging, the palette is sturdy, easy to store, and slim. So it's very functional!
The palette comes with 6 shades. In fact, those 6 shades are the only 6 shades available of their Love Flush Long Lasting 16-Hour Blush - how cool is it that you get to try all of them in one compact palette!?
The pans are quite small. So if you're used to dipping a large fluffy brush to apply blush, you might find this inconvenient. I use my now discontinued Nars blush brush and it fits perfectly so it's not a problem for me.
The shades are (with Sephora shade descriptions):
Love Hangover - Warm Pink
Baby Love - Soft Dusty Nude with Gold Sparkle
I Will Always Love You - Gilded Peach
How Deep is Your Love - Watermelon Pink
Justify My Love - Bright Pink with Fine Gold Sparkle
Your Love is King - Plummy Rose

The swatches look a bit muted, but these blushes pack a serious punch on the cheek. A tiny amount is plenty - these are very pigmented. The blushes are very blendable and look smooth on the cheek. I'm not usually much of a fan of shimmery blush because I find it can emphasize pores on my skin, but the shimmery blushes in this palette look amazing on. The shimmer is subtle enough to not be too visible, but give a light glow to the skin.
My faves? Baby Love and Your Love is King. Baby Love is the perfect light flush of color to add with a heavier eye look. And I've been wearing Your Love is King pretty much non stop with a perfected skin/no eye makeup look with lots of mascara. It gives my cheeks a pretty, healthy flush of color. I absolutely love it. Love Hangover is also a lovely coral/pink shade that goes with anything. Honestly, all the shades are amazing, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

If you can get your hands on this (it's sold out right now on the Canadian Sephora website) I definitely recommend this palette. I'm quite picky when it comes to blush and these are simply lovely. The amazing thing about this palette is that since these blushes are part of the permanent Too Faced collection, you can just repurchase your favorite blush once you've finished it in this palette.

Have you tried the Too Faced blushes?
This is a little late, I'll admit, but I thought it would be fun to take a look at my favorite and most used makeup products of 2015.

Honestly, 2015 was not the year I bought many cosmetics and beauty products. In fact, the only pieces I purchased were (mostly) bits for my wedding makeup. In 2015, I started appreciating what makes a product be exceptional. Instead of breezing through products to test them out, I really took my time to use up things. Which leads us to today - the most tested and true favorites I've ever done!

Where would I be without my trusty Bourgeois Healthy Mix Powder. My Shoppers Drug Mart was out of my shade, so I thought I'd give the Rimmel Stay Matte another try and I was sadly disappointing. Nothing compares. I don't know what it is about the Healthy Mix Powder, but it is truly perfect for my skin. It doesn't appear powdery on the skin, it applies so beautifully and leaves my skin matte. Standout blushes for me this year were my trusty Tarte Exposed Blush, which, to be honest, is probably expired, and my Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Plum Pop. While Tarte's Exposed is the perfect pinky nude, goes with everything, blush, Clinique's Plum Pop is the perfect healthy flush needed with a more minimal makeup look. Both got a ton of use in 2015.

I took serious care of my brows in 2015. A makeup artist suggested I grow them out a little at a NYE party last year, and I took that to heart. To keep them in check, I've used the Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows and the Clinique Just Browsing Brush-On Styling Mousse. I think I re-purchased both about 3-4 times during the year which indicates a true beauty staple!

As for lips, I pretty much only used my Nars Dolce Vita lipstick (a classic) and as of September, my Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Rush. The Rush shade was actually my wedding lipstick - it was the perfect pinky-mauve to add a bit of color to my lips without being too obvious. I loved it. Another well used product in 2015 was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid. I got a travel sized version and used it all year, weirdly enough, on my cupid's bow. It gives the illusion of fuller lips!

Finally, in my list of most used products of 2015 is my Tarte CC Undereye Corrector in Light Medium and the L'Oreal Infaillible Pro-Matte Foundation. I bought the concealer it in the summer when I was looking for something to cover up/correct my dark circles for the wedding and while it's a bit dark for me, it blends beautifully and looks great under my eyes. Definitely a stand out product. If you haven't tried out the ever so popular L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation yet, give it a go, you won't regret it. I never thought I'd like a drugstore foundation (how snobby does that sound!) but this foundation is amazing. It gives the smoothest most natural satiny matte finish. And it's so cheap!

This month, I've also taken the time to seriously de-clutter my makeup stash. Of course, I know I could de-clutter even more, but for now, I'm happy with how things are. My mom was able to receive products she enjoys (you're welcome mom) and I'm finding a bit of breathing room in there. I realized I do not own one single (non-expired) nude blush. And my lipsticks... I got rid of a lot. A lot of them were just too old to even salvage.

I was having a conversation about makeup with my husband, telling him that I got rid of a lot of makeup because it had expired. He looked at me with a shocked face and said "makeup expires?!". After that conversation, it dawned on me, yeah, makeup expires. Why acquire tons of makeup when there's no possible way to use it up? Of course, the whole point of makeup is to have fun, and to make yourself feel more confident, enhance your own natural beauty. But I think 2016 is the year where I will keep that in mind that makeup expires. I don't want to ever throw away makeup like I did this past month. It's so wasteful.

I'm not going to lie - I've had my eye on this palette the moment I heard it was coming out. It's pretty hard to resist - pretty packaging, smooth matte shades, and let's face it, I'm so amused by the word Tartelette that that even swayed me.

Tarte came out with the original Tartelette palette in late 2014 and it consists of only matte shades. Sadly, even with its great reviews, it wasn't enough for me to buy it because I felt I had enough matte shadows in my makeup spread. However, with the Tartelette in Bloom making its debut, featuring three shimmery shades, I just had to give it a try.

First off, this palettes smells amazing. A lot like sweet... chocolate? Yeah, chocolate. It's nice, but honestly, I personally would rather my eyelids smelled of nothing. It's just strange - why would you want anything scented on your face? Luckily, the smell dissipates and I can't smell it on my face after application.

Hello gorgeous packaging. The palette is well designed - the shadows are neatly placed in the palette in rows.

There is a huge mirror in the palette which is super convenient for travel.

The matte shades are buttery smooth. They didn't swatch too well on my arm for some reason as they look a bit patchy, but they seriously blend amazingly on the lid. Jetsetter, Smarty Pants and Sweetheart are excellent crease shades. The darker shades, Smokeshow, Activist, and Leader as so pigmented and pack a serious punch - you need a light hand with these. The shimmery shades... I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed. This morning, I tried applying Firecracker all over my lid and got a ton of fallout. When I tried tapping off the excess off the brush, it left me with barely any shadow on my brush. Same goes with Funny Girl. Rocker however applies beautifully. If you had your heart set on the shimmery shades like I was, maybe you're better off with the original Tartelette palette because they're a bit of a miss.

Overall, I'm happy with the quality of these shadows. They last well on my lids all day (with a base of course) and the matte shades are perfect. At C$54.00, it's not the deal of the century, but still a decent price for a solid product. 8/10Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-76226135494136544552016-01-05T12:20:00.004-08:002016-01-05T12:20:38.019-08:00Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - The Perfect Go-To Shades for Everyday
Alright, I know I'm really late reviewing this, but since Shoppers Drug Mart in my town has started carried Urban Decay and I've been able to redeem my points for free products, I've kind of gone overboard. By far, one of my favorite purchases of 2015 has been this Urban Decay Naked Basics palette.

This palette is usually described as being an all matte palette - but in fact, the Venus shade, the lightest, is shimmery (described at "demi-matte" by Sephora), and the perfect inner corner highlight. The rest of the shades are indeed completely matte. Youtuber Alanna Davison (one of my recent faves) has professed her love many times for the Naked 2 shade and I have to say I'm completely smitten with it as well. It's the perfect not too cool/not too warm crease shade and I've been using it a ton. Faint is a warmer mid-tone brown that's beautiful for deepening the crease. And Crave is a decent black - not amazing, and it has a bit of fall out, but still quite good. All these shades blend amazingly.

Excuse the powdery photo - this palette got a lot of love before I got around to photographing it.

In order, Venus, Foxy, W.O.S. Naked 2, Faint, Crave.

The packaging of this little gem is perfect - not too big, not too small and incredibly sturdy. Unless you absolutely need shimmery shades, this could easily be the perfect palette for traveling.

If you're looking at investing in a useful, easy to use, fool proof little palette, this one is amazing. And at less than $40 tax included, it does not break the bank!Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-68323749463646343492015-12-11T06:29:00.004-08:002015-12-11T06:29:50.444-08:00Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil
Guys, this stuff is amazing.

I'm not sure if it's whether we changed the light bulbs in the bathroom for SUPER bright ones and I can now see properly, or my skin is just changing with the weather, but I truly feel like it's been at its worst for about a month. It's been dry and the texture of my skin is bumpy. Not fun at all!

So to help fix these issues, I looked for a face oil that wouldn't clog my pores and would be suitable for oily skin. The Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil seemed to fit the bill.

The oil feels quite light when added to the skin. In fact, it feels light enough to layer a night cream on top - saying this, I only wear this at night as I think it would be too heavy for my skin during the day. I bought the version for Oily or Combination skin, but it's also available for Dry Skin, and Dehydrated Skin. And yes, there is a difference, as Caroline Hirons explains.

The oil smells amazing - a little bit like citronella, but in a good way. That said, some may find the smell a bit overpowering. It does fade a bit after application, but if you're very sensitive to scent, this may not be for you. Truth be told, Clarins is a brand that generally have quite scent heavy products - I personally love it, but others may not.

The bottle comes with a dropper. I love this because it ensures no oil is smeared anywhere and my bottle stays clean. I'm a bit of a neat freak, so this makes me happy. There's nothing more annoying than grabbing an oily mess of a bottle. I use about 2-3 drops depending on how much my skin needs it. The oil takes a few minutes to sink into my skin, and after about 5 minutes, I layer my night cream over top. My skin looks so refreshed in the morning. To be fair, I don't use this every day as I think it would be too much for my skin, but it makes such a difference on the days I use it.

If you're new to oils and are looking for something to freshen up your skincare routine, I think this is a good option. At $54 in Canada, this isn't cheap, but luckily a little goes a long long way.Annickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10664781555043560439noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499354593212932002.post-73809945368858260602015-10-05T04:58:00.005-07:002015-10-05T04:59:09.827-07:00September Favorites!
Hello everyone! Long time no ... blog? I'm back with September favorites. I've been getting back into trying out new products and I have a few to share with you. Ready?

First off, oh my goodness these Facial Radiance Pads from First Aid Beauty are amazing. There is no other way around it, these little facials pads full of lactic and glycolic acid make my skin look glowing. When I start feeling like my skin is looking a bit dull and bumpy, I swipe this on at night and wake up to new skin. If you're new to chemical exfoliation, this is a great start as the product is not too strong, but strong enough to see results. I'm also a fan of the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating toner which I've reviewed here. This stuff will change the way you see skincare. I've been using this a lot in September as the change of weather has definitely affected my skin.

Again with the skincare, I've been paying a bit more attention to serums lately. When I saw that Caroline Hirons recommended the Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Rejuvenating Face Serum, and it was reasonably priced, I decided to pick it up at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, which luckily, had it in stock, and it was on sale. The serum smells a bit like oranges and cream - it's not offensive, but not my favorite. However, the product works really well. It's light, but also creamy enough to give a bit of moisture to the skin. My mom is also a fan! I use it at night on my oily/combination skin before my moisturizer and wake up with fresh, plump skin. A+

I bought the Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara on a whim. I hadn't bought a waterproof mascara in years and thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to wear on my wedding day. Ya know, in case of tears. I had bought this mascara before in the non-waterproof formula and loved it. Turns out, I was pretty meh about this mascara at first. It gave me no volume and kind of clumped in a bad way. After using it about 5 times, all of a sudden, it started being really good, giving me defined lashes, and some volume. And it really is waterproof - this mascara does not budge. I don't know if the formula had to "settle" after opening, but this product is excellent. And I'm very happy it didn't turn out to be a waste of money too!

The Clinique Just Browsing purchase was a suggestion by a Shoppers Drug Mart associate. I swear, I'm not sponsored by SDM, I just buy a lot of my products there! When asked if I could purchase my usual Clinique Brow Shaper, she informed me that Clinique just came out with the Just Browsing product which is described as a "brush on styling mousse". I thought, heck yes, I'm always up for well defined, full brows. Turns out, this product is the bomb. Sadly, it does use up pretty quicky as I'm already on my second tube. The mousse is light enough that it doesn't feel like you have anything on your brows - no crispyness! - but totally keeps everything in place. Plus, the shade Deep Brown is just perfect for my brows. Highly recommend.

The Stila Color Balm Lipsticks are amazing. While I only own the shade "Isabelle", I wish I owned more. The name of these makes sense - they truly are a balmy lipstick. They feel incredibly moisturizing on the lips, and last quite a long time (4-6hrs). "Isabelle" is the perfect shade of pinky nude and goes with everything. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the minty smell. But it dissipates pretty quickly after you apply the lipstick. Next on my list - the nude shade "Sophie".

And finally, my last monthly favorite is this amazing #160 blush brush from Make Up For Ever. I've owned this brush for a while now, and it is one of my favorites. It's incredibly soft and I love using it to apply my face powder. It's great for a more precise application of product and the wooden handle is of amazing quality. I've washed this brush many times and I have never seen it lose a hair. If you're in the market for some makeup brushes, I highly suggest the ones from Make Up For Ever. You won't be disappointed!

And that concludes my September favorites! What have you been loving this month?
A few weeks ago, my lovely significant other complimented me on my skin. I thanked him, and then started babbling about what I've changed in my skin care routine which he gracefully listened to even if he had no idea what I was talking about. Truth is, I have never liked my skin very much. It's problematic - acne, blackheads, oiliness, scarring are usually the norm. However, about 6 months ago, I told myself I would start taking care of it better. And that new initiative started with the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner.

Recommended by the ever famous skincare/blogger/expert Caroline Hirons, I thought it would be exactly what my skin needed. I has glycolic, salicylic and tartaric acid - in other words, it's meant to exfoliate your skin chemically. Guys, this product is life changing. Since introducing acid toners into my skin care routine, my skin is so much nicer. I use other similar products than the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner in my skin care routine, but the Clarins is my favorite. Here's why:

It smells amazing. Some might not like fragrance in their products, but I love the scent of this toner.

It doesn't make my skin feel oily or greasy. Sure, I only apply this a few times a week, at night, but I will never enjoy the gummy/oily feeling of some products on my skin. Either absorb, or go away. This toner skins in beautifully and faster than say, the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, also an acid toner.

When I apply this at night, I wake up with refreshed skin. Refreshed is probably the best way I could describe it as "glowing" seems a bit excessive. But my skin generally looks really good the morning after application.

A little goes a long way. Seriously, a very small amount on a cotton pad is plenty.

I've used maybe... 1/4 of the bottle, and I've been using it regularly for about 6 months (and by regularly, I mean a couple times a week). Not bad! If you're looking to jump on the Acid Toner bandwagon, I highly suggest you give this product a try. It is quite pricey at $36, but oh so worth it. Don't forget, glycolic acid can make your skin sun sensitive, so use sunscreen!
Let's be honest here, I have more lipsticks that I'll ever be able to use. Still, when one of those lipsticks, walks (rolls?!) into your life, you can't help but make it to the cash register. This is what happened with MAC's Call The Hairdresser.

To be honest, when I bought it, I had no idea what collection it was from - I sort of tune out MAC's new collections. There's many of them, I can't keep track! But a quick Google search indicates that the lipstick comes from the MAC is Beauty collection.

The lipstick is perfect in texture. Light and semi-glossy, but pigmented, and it wears off beautifully. It actually lasts quite a long time on the lips! Its lasting power surprised me as the lipstick is quite light and comfortable to wear. I still had most of my lipstick on my lunch, and considering I sip coffee and snack all morning at work, that's quite good!

The shade of this is beautiful pinky berry. It's a "my lips but sunburned" shade! Really though, if my lips were sunburned, they would probably be about the shade of this lipstick. It's quite natural looking on my colouring and compliment a lot of different makeup looks.

All and all, definitely a winner from MAC. My first MAC purchase in a year and it turned out to be quite a staple. MAC's still got it!
Like seriously, who can resist this beautiful packaging. I know I didn't! I bought the Plum Pop colour a few months ago, and a couple weekends ago, while at Sephora picking out a blush for my mother, I saw that they came out with new colours. Aaaaand, I just had to get another one!

Plum Pop on left, and Melon Pop on the right. As you can see, my Plum Pop is well loved!
Clinique has never been a brand to be particularly innovative about their packaging. They've traditionally stuck to the basics for lipsticks, blushes and foundation. But lately, they seem to be having more fun - the new Clinique Pop Lip Colour's tubes correspond to the colour of the lipstick, and the Chubby Sticks are also have the same concept. I seriously wonder how many people bought these blushes 100% because of the packaging. Probably a lot. They are damn cute.

I love that the lid is clear so you can see the beautiful pattern in the blush. The plastic is very sturdy, and the lid is easy to open and close.

The blushes are pigmented and the colors are gorgeous. I'm especially in love with Plum Pop - it gives such a healthy glow. I can see that Melon Pop will be my summer staple. The soft peachy colour will be perfect with a little BB Cream and mascara for light summer makeup. If I didn't have a million blushes already, I would most certainly buy a lot more shades!

Only tiny complaint about the range - while I was looking for a blush for my mom, I checked the Clinique blushes because I love my Plum Pop shade so much, to see if there was a neutral rosy colour. And there wasn't any! Most of the colours (if not all) have shimmer running through - some are heavier on the shimmer, others are lighter. But not a whole lot of them were appropriate for a more mature skin. And none of them were even close to the rosy shade we were looking for for my mom. Out of 12 shades, that's a bit of a bummer.

Still though, I can't help but think these blushes are excellent value for money. The Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes are $24 in Canada - not a bad price at all for such a beautifully packaged, pigmented product. And, if you're like me, buy them at Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart for points!
