Short and Sassy!

Short and sassy would describe me. Except I'm not really sassy. I'm French. Anyway, presenting Short and Sassy!

I must say, I absolutely love this color. The polish dried fast, barely chipped in three days (again, quite the accomplishment for me) and goes with everything. I've never been a big fan of China Glaze because I don't often find their colors wearable (for me). This, however, is making me change my mind.

I kinda just wish my skintone was darker to match it. Or that I was tanned. But no skin cancer for me. Can you believe the oiled barbies you still see on the beaches?! What? People are stupid. Enjoy your skin cancer. Same goes with cigarettes - but that takes me on another tangent. I have plenty of bad habits so I'm not really one to talk anyway!

It's been really warm here lately. Hopefully the weather cools off. Or at least we could get some awesome thundershowers please?

Borghese again!

Hi all! Happy Saturday night. I'm spending an excellent night with the hunny, blogging whilst he's playing a video game. We also watched The Sixth Sense since I had never seen it before. I liked it a lot! Bruce Willis was pretty awesome in his prime.

Moving on. Here's Borghese's Stellar Notte.

If the bottle looks small, it's because it's a mini! The polish is gorgeous. It has flashes of green and purple but still has a gunmetal feel to it. Seems like it could be similar to Chanel's Black Pearl if it didn't have the purple flash in it - the purple flash isn't too strong though. The shimmer is very small which gives it a flawless application. This is two thin coats and Seche Vite topcoat. I can't speak highly enough of Borghese - not one polish I have of theirs is a dud. I think I have about 5 by now... and counting because it's on SALE this week!

Uh oh, Deborah Lippmann, you've got me under your wing...

Um yeah, I went back to that local shop. And came back with some Pop Life!

And Cake hand lotion.

I quite like the hand lotion. It's definitely not sticky, it absorbs quickly and it smells really nice. It's quite a sweet smell though, so for people who don't like vanilla-ish smells, beware. Hopefully this will work better than my other hand lotions which include the Vaseline brand ones, and Avene, which flatly sucks.

Here are pictures of the polish. It's beautiful.

It's very pink without being too bright. It's definitely not what I would call neon. It's strange - it looks like a soft pink in some lights and way brighter in others. Definitely a staple in my collection.

The closest polish I have to this is Essie Jumpin Junkanoo. But Jumpin Junkanoo has very subtle shimmer and Pop Life does not.
I am also in love with the Deborah Lippmann formula. It dries super quickly to a jelly and very hard formula. Thus, the wearability is excellent. I'm definitely a fan. Next on my list are Bad Romance, Lara's Theme, Glitter in the Air, Bitches Brew, Don't Tell Mama... And that's just on the top of my head. I may have a new found addiction.

Billie, taking a nap after she threw the blanket from my bed on the floor. Kool and klassy as always.

50th Post Splurge!

Good afternoon bloggers!

This is my fiftieth post! I'm really proud of myself because I started this blog as a way to occupy my time and give myself a project. I'm the kind of person that goes crazy without projects to fill up her life - this blogging has been rewarding my sanity. Thanks Blogger!

I told myself that at 50 posts, I'll treat myself with something I wouldn't normally buy. And so I came up with some Deborah Lippmann polishes! I couldn't justify the price without the accomplishment. So I waited for my 50 posts!

I got the All That Jazz trio at a local beauty store.

I'm not even a fan of glitter in general but these are SO pretty. Especially the following:

Am I right? Like if you're going to do Deborah Lippmann, you might as well do her glitters. They are flat out stunning. This polish has so much depth! I'm totally in love with it! This is two coats with Seche Vite on top. I'm loving the jelly finish of this polish. I don't remember the last time I've seen a navy polish that was jelly.

I shall post her other polishes in the next few days. Stay tuned!

BBQ Time!

Don't you love it when you find a polish you're completely smitten with?

That's me and OPI's Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ.

Pretty right? Not too berry colored nor too brown. This is a two coater. I hasn't even chipped after a day (shocker for me). It totally makes me want to eat a nice steak from the grill. Mmmm.

A new fave in a much needed time...

This saved my week. So far. Because boy, am I having a rotten week. And it's only Tuesday.

Saturday was so horrid. I started some kind of weird flu/sinus infection and was bed ridden with fever all weekend, including a beautiful, sunny and warm Saturday. I'm still stuffed. I cannot wait for this cold to be over.

BUT, on Friday, I picked up a beautiful polish which helped the beginning of my week.

It's called Buon Viaggio Mauve by Borghese. Borghese is quickly climbing up the ranks as one of my favorite brands (after Essie). Just lookatit!

It's a perfect soft, muted mauve, with grayish tones in it. Seriously, one of my fave polishes. It's opaque in two coats (even if it doesn't look like it in the pictures), wears well, and is office appropriate. I even got compliments on it at work!

The smell of polish really doesn't help a sinus infection/whatever it is I have. Totally stings the nostrils. Wouldn't recommend it.

Didn't keep me from changing polish again tonight to the following:

Essie Foot Loose

It's okay, you can sing it.

It's a pretty sort of berry color. I'm not sure I like it. It doesn't strike me as different or original. It's pretty much opaque in one coat though, which I like a lot. It's pretty, and very much my type of color but I'm still meh about it. Maybe tomorrow it'll be more appealing.

Right now, the sleep monster is taking me away. I cannot wait for another day of work full of laboured breathing and coughing. UGH! Please go away sickness!

Meet Me on the Star Ferry?

What's a Star Ferry anyway? Kind of reminds me of Star Trek or something. Which is okay by me.

Can you tell which camera is better? I took pictures with two cameras to see which one would make nail polish look better.

The first one is better. It's my boy's Canon T2i. It's quite a great camera but not a point and shoot which makes it hard to take pictures of my own hand with. The color is more true to life in the two last pictures by the way. Didn't have time to adjust the T2i as I was on my lunch break. The dedication!

I love the shimmer in this OPI polish. However, purple isn't really my thing. I always pick up purple polishes thinking I might like this one, and maybe I should give it a chance. But yeah, I think they just don't suit me or my personality. The shimmer is stunning in it. As my boyfriend describes it "it's purple but it's also pink". He's quite right - it's a very nice duochrome. I suggest it for anyone who would like this type of color. It also wears really well. I had it on three days without tipwear.

Also HAUL:

I'll be posting swatches of these Borghese lovelies soon. They don't have names though! I know a couple of them. We'll improvise, it's okay.

I've been really really sick all weekend with the flu and Billie was a good nurse. She slept on my bed and made no noise all day. Thanks Billie!

I've got OTHER Borghese to review too. Colors I picked up at Shoppers and I LOVE them.

Until next time!

Light My Sapphire!

Today has been quite a nice day. The weather was nice, work was nice, evening was nice. All nice and calm. Love days like that.

This is a FLAT OUT stunning polish by OPI. If you're into dark nails, this is for you. It's multidimensional whilst still being so dark it's almost black. That's what I love most about it - it appears black and gothy but it's really navy - and kind of romantic. I guess it's not a color I consider vampy - that would have to be in the red tones. Light My Sapphire wears well too - I have one coat of Sally Hansen's Mega Shine on as I am testing it out.

Tip wear after one day of massive cleaning, lots of hand washing, and cuticle picking. I'm really rough on my hands. It may appear like a week's worth of tip wear in the picture, but trust me, this is actually really good. Hence why I change my polish a lot.

In other news, Billie found a new/old toy of hers under the dresser. I had it in my hand and was rattling it around when I took this picture:

She was trying to climb my dresser. Oh that cat of mine. Daily little joys, I tell ya.

Sun sun and more sun!

We've been having just great weather lately. Perfect for me - not too warm, not too cold. Too warm and I get crummy. Too cold and, well... it feel like Canada so nothing new there.

I felt like a bright polish yesterday and decided to put Sally Hansen's Sunflowers on. Unfortunately, the color isn't too flattering on my skintone. I'll have to try it when I've got a bit more tan on.

This was two coats, and it shows doesn't it? I'm not loving the visible nail line either. But the color is nice by itself. It's bright and cheerful. I highly suggest it on someone with a more olive skintone!

Also, I'm testing Sally Hansen's Mega Shine Topcoat. So far, it definitely wears better than my Seche Vite! I will update with more info once I've thoroughly tested it out.

Billie felt defeated today because I gave her a bath.

Polish spam, again!

Here are more polishes for your swatching pleasures.

Essie Coat Azure - It's everywhere, I know, but it really is that pretty. It's very soft and feminine for a blue color and the shimmer is very subtle and pretty. I really like this polish. The formula was ONE COAT. This is a HUGE advantage for me because I hate waiting for polish to dry.

Essie Guilty Pleasures - This is a sheer soft pink jelly. It wears very well. I had this on for three days and it still looked good. I think this is two coats but I could've used a third one to be honest. It is much brighter in real life than in my pictures. It was quite hard to photograph. Regardless, this is a very nice polish that I know I'll wear again. Office appropriate as well.

Errrm, yes, dry cuticles galore. I'm still waiting/searching for my miracle cream.

And this beauty is Zoya's Edyta. WOAH, right?! It's so pretty and different and unique. I love that it's vampy but not the regular dark red way. It's a gunmetal color but it leans towards green. Very odd. This is my first time trying Zoya (thanks small town in Canada for carrying nothing) so I got this polish off Ebay.

OH AND GOOD NEWS. I tracked down the Borghese polish I missed out on on Ebay! WOOT! Hopefully the Canada Post strike won't affect its arrival too much.

I'm in a good mood today! Off to get pizza with my hunnies!
